Premenopause is a natural process that occurs in a woman’s body, like menopause both are created by the natural reduction of the female hormone, estrogen. There are many different symptoms that vary from woman to woman, and can change over the menopausal process (up to a 10-year timeframe). Symptoms that one woman experience may not be what another woman experiences.

Typical symptoms can include;
Hot Flashes
Night Sweats
Menstrual irregularities
Decreased Libido
Anxiety
Fuzzy thinking
Depression or feeling overwhelmed
and more…

No matter what your symptoms may be, it’s important to begin to understand some basic information. Everybody is different, what helps one may not help another, review the following options, try them, if one doesn't work for you, try another.

Watch your stress – yoga, meditation and exercise help
Diet, diet, diet – eat a healthy well balanced diet. Low carbohydrates and refined sugar
Alcohol and Caffeine – quit or use in moderation
Exercise – aerobic and weight lifting
Quit use of any tobacco related products

Medications help too – Lowdose Hormonal Replacement Therapy (HRT) helps increase the declining amounts of estrogen that the menopausal process removes and by doing so mitigates symptoms. But this too is not without side effects.

Since each woman is different and there are several treatment options, Dr. Sarma will review your history and lifestyle to help evaluate the best method of treatment(s).
