|‘I loved my tattoo when I got it, but I’m at a point in my life now where I no longer care to have it’
How many treatments to remove a tattoo?
The number of treatments depends on the amount and type of ink used and the depth of the ink in the skin.
Some tattoos are removed with the first treatment, others may need more. Dr. Sarma will be happy to discuss treatment steps and options during your private consultation.
Will the tattoo completely disappear?
In many cases, greater than 95% fading of the tattoo may be accomplished. However, with over 100 tattoo inks used worldwide… none FDA regulated and not knowing which ink or how deeply the ink was applied, make it impossible to predict removal rate on any given tattoo.
What should I expect after treatment?
The treated area will go through phases of redness, light scabbing, then transition into normal pigmented skin over a period of up to 6 weeks.
Some may experience pinpoint bleeding, if this occurs, treat the area with an antibacterial ointment. The treated area should be kept clean. Showers can be resumed the day after treatment.
Dark (blue & black) and red inks are removed the best. Oranges and purples usually fade. Green and yellow are the most difficult to remove.
